There is so much to love about living in our wonderful, friendly city of Harrisonburg. And what better way to celebrate our community than all of the fun summer events in our area? Make sure to add these to your calendar!
- June 15 The World Series of Comedy. Laughter is the best medicine and you will get plenty of it here. Order your tickets in advance and save enough to go have a pint in one of downtown’s microbrews.
- June 15 African American Cultural Festival. This festival takes place in Ralph Sampson Park from 12:00 pm-6:00 pm. Enjoy an afternoon of entertainment, fellowship, activities, crafts, art, music, food, exhibitors and more.
- June 22 The Keezletown Ruritan Club Lawn Party. This is a family fun event that has taken place for the last 68 years. Music, food, and plenty of activities for the kids.
- June 29 Firefly Night at the White Oak Lavender Farm. This is a wonderful family evening, your ticket includes lavender ice cream, lemonade and a habitat jar to participate in our catch and release program. The winery is open for adults and the grounds are open for families to enjoy until dusk.
- July 10 Community Cookout. This is a public event held by Harrisonburg Parks and Recreation at Ralph Samson Park on East Washington Street. Best reason to come? It is FREE. Free food and music.
- July 12-14 Red Wing Roots Music Festival. If you love music then you won’t want to miss this three day annual event. You can buy single day passes or camp out and get a pass for all three days. And kids under 12 are free!
- July 17-20 Bridgwater Volunteer Fire Company Annual Lawn Party. The Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Company hosts one of the area’s largest lawn parties. Bring the family and enjoy live music, rides, food, games, parades, and more.
- July 20 Virginia Cider Festival. Do you love cider? Then you won’t want to miss this event. Located just down the road at the Valley Pike Farm Market in Weyers Cave, you can drink cider, listen to great music, and help Harrisonburg’s Mercy House in the process.
- August 2-4 Oyster & Wine Festival on Sunny Slope Farm. Virginia’s coast is coming to the valley! Fresh oysters straight from Virginia’s eastern waters, plus local artisan booths, Virginia wineries, craft foods, and live music.
- Every Saturday Rocktown Bites. If you love food then the Rocktown Bites tours are for you! What better way to celebrate all of our culinary excellence than Rocktown Bites?! Coming up this summer, the Original Tour season begins on June 15 and lasts until October 26. This walking tour will take you to Ruby’s Arcade, Agora Market, Lola Mo’s, Capital Ale House, Montpelier Coffee and Wine Bar, and FoodBarFood.
